The
Reiki Ideals
"Just for today I will give thanks for my many
blessings.
Just for today I will not worry.
Just for today I will not be angry.
Just for today I will do my work honestly and with integrity
Just for today I will be kind to my neighbor and every living
thing"
Reiki is a wonderful and very gentle laying on of hands healing method
which works by sending loving energy through the hands to a
willing person. Reiki, (pronounced ray-key), is the Japanese
word for "universal life energy". Ki is the vital energy force
believed to flow through all things. Reiki was rediscovered by
a Buddhist named Mikao Usui in Japan in the late 19th century.
It is believed that Reiki was practiced thousands of years ago
by Tibetan Buddhists.
Reiki energy is channeled through a Reiki practitioner and out
through the palms of the hands. The Practitioner is the
channel through which the energy flows and not the source.
Once the practitioner places their hands on the body, Reiki
will go to the area(s) that need healing, whether physical,
spiritual, mental or emotional. Reiki works with intent. Once
you have stated your intent, Reiki will flow. Reiki is very
powerful, but simple to learn. Anyone can learn Reiki, even
children. A person becomes a Reiki channel by receiving an
attunement from a Reiki Master who has also been attuned and
received proper training. Once you have it, you have it for
life and should use it daily.
Please note that Reiki is not a religion. You do not have to
believe in any one system of beliefs to give or receive Reiki.
Reiki is practiced and taught by people of all beliefs and
faiths. Christians, Jews, Muslims, atheists and agnostics can
all learn, practice, and receive Reiki.
Reiki
is not a substitute for medical treatment, but rather Reiki is
a complementary treatment that can be used along with proper
medical diagnoses and treatment. Reiki is non-invasive, it is
very safe and gentle and produces a feeling of relaxation
within minutes of a session. Reiki is often used to reduce
stress and tensions of every day life. Do self-treatments on
yourself daily to melt away stress and negativity. You can
give yourself a mini treatment while sitting in a chair, when
you feel stressed during the day. Reiki can be send by
distance, even across thousands of miles, and still achieve
beneficial results. Reiki can benefit plants and animals too.
As the practice of Reiki becomes more accepted in mainstream
medical settings, Reiki is increasingly being used in
conjunction to help with traditional medical practices in
hospitals and operating rooms.
